We're looking for a Head of Engineering to lead our skilled engineering team in driving technical excellence at Embea. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong technical background and proven experience in managing engineering teams. You'll work closely with our founders, who have built successful InsurTech startups and collaborate with other cross-functional industry leaders.
Salary range: €110,000 to €130,000 + Equity

Drive Embea’s engineering vision and strategy
Lead a growing team of ambitious engineers while remaining hands-on
Bring best practices to optimize our development process and apply the latest technology to ensure the high-quality end product
Ensure the security and reliability of our systems
Foster a culture of excellence, learning and mutual respect
Plan internal & external resources, define hiring needs and lead recruiting activities
Job requirements
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Proven leadership and team management skills, including experience in scaling engineering teams
Strong understanding of business goals and ability to align technology with them
Track record of building scalable, API-first software products from scratch
Previous experience in an early-stage company or building things from scratch in a rapidly developing and scaling agile organization
Deep understanding of event-driven system design, service-oriented and microservices architectural patterns, troubleshooting methods, and best practices
Production experience with Kotlin and/or Java
Experience in setting up and managing CI/CD and overall software infrastructure
Comfortable making decisions and advocating for them
Hands-on mentality
Experience in Insurance/FinTech is a huge plus
