We're looking for a Head of Engineering to lead our skilled engineering team in driving technical excellence at Embea. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong technical background and proven experience in managing engineering teams. You'll work closely with our founders, who have built successful InsurTech startups and collaborate with other cross-functional industry leaders.

Salary range: €110,000 to €130,000 + Equity

Job requirements


  • Proven leadership and team management skills, including experience in scaling engineering teams

  • Strong understanding of business goals and ability to align technology with them

  • Track record of building scalable, API-first software products from scratch

  • Previous experience in an early-stage company or building things from scratch in a rapidly developing and scaling agile organization

  • Deep understanding of event-driven system design, service-oriented and microservices architectural patterns, troubleshooting methods, and best practices

  • Production experience with Kotlin and/or Java

  • Experience in setting up and managing CI/CD and overall software infrastructure

  • Comfortable making decisions and advocating for them

  • Hands-on mentality

  • Experience in Insurance/FinTech is a huge plus
